NTSC VGA Output

First I just want to say I am very impressed with the Chameleon! The Turbo
works great with Geos/Wheels and the PS/2 mouse is silky smooth. I love
the file browser and the keyboard shortcuts iin the menu system are very
intuitive. My only complaint is the VGA out for NTSC. I have 4 different
LCD monitors that all support the VGA out, but the image quality is very
poor no matter what resolution I use (including the monitors native
resolution). I am currently using s-video on a Dell 2007wfpb which has a
better picture that the VGA on any of the monitors I've tried. Here is a
list:

Dell 2007 WFPb (20" 16:9)
Dell 2001FP (20" 4:3)
HP2035 (20" 4:3)
Acer 1511b (15")

Not one of the monitors would center the display and all of the output even
in resolutions that looked semi-ok was fuzzy/hazy. Any chance of getting
some NTSC Lovin'?

ok... finally recieved a NTSC machine for testing so i could check this (in
cartridge mode that is, which might or might not make a difference).

i cant see a difference between PAL and NTSC regarding the quality of the VGA
output, so there is no NTSC specific problem. (please check if that is true
using your equipment, using chameleon in standalone mode - if you CAN see a
difference then something really odd must be going on)

the display is not centered in NTSC, that is correct - that is because NTSC
has less rasterlines, and the VGA controller will always start drawing at the
top (and not scale vertically), so there is a black bar at the bottom
currently. that may change when the vga controller is revised later in the
development process (there are more important issues at the moment, sorry for
that).

Another vote for NTSC VGA fix. Looks a bit amateurish as it is now. (My wife's words)".

But seriously, having the screen centered, and perhaps also larger, to avoid all those black borders would make a big difference.

Another vote to fix the NTSC VGA functionality, it's the main reason why I bought the product years ago.

As it stands now, the VGA isn't much of an upgrade. Perhaps even a downgrade. With some trickery of plugs using luma & chroma on a y pb pr type screen, one can get a Centered, very clear and large picture directly from the C64, which is much preferable to this VGA output on ntsc. The only downside is very faint colors, but I'm starting to think I actually preferred that setup over vga.

I guess I was under the assumption this had been addressed by now as quite old posts have mentioned this shortcoming.
