Thanks Tobias!

I will try to do some short 40-col txt manuals for the non-C64 cores, to be read from the Text Viewer.

Let's see what I can do... BR! Juan

Hi Tobias, can the Text Viewer display the 256 characters of the CP437, or only some of them?

(I need to display some special characters of the PS/2 keyboard in the keyboard layout table).

Thanks!

well, it uses the standard commodore font, so anything that doesnt exist in
petscii will not work (a few are mapped to similar looking characters, like
the underscore for example)

Thanks Tobias, can you post the character's mapping? (CP437 <-> PETSCII)
i have made a little text file about it... (i hope the attachment goes through
:)). i perhaps shouldn't have said "CP437", because its really just the first
half of it, ie the printable 7bit US ascii set.

not sure if it makes sense to support the block graphics, since viewable files
would have to be recreated for 40 columns anyway, it seems to be more useful
to add a proper .seq viewer (for actual petscii).

oh, and i noticed a few characters are actually not mapped correctly in the
last release of the menu system (never noticed, as they are seldom used in
file names) - i will fix these right now, so whats written in that text file
will actually reflect reality :)

Why don't you use 80 chars? An example how to make it is found here Imran Nazar: Extended Text Mode on the C64 http://imrannazar.com/Extended-Text-Mode-on-the-C64

Imran Nazar: Extended Text Mode on the C64 http://imrannazar.com/Extended-Text-Mode-on-the-C64 I sometimes wonder what it would take for a computer of 80s vintage to be a viable work terminal in today's world. After some thought, I came up with two things...

Why don't you use 80 chars?
because the text viewer by itself really is just a side-project, and fixing
bugs in the existing software has top priority over adding new features - an
80 columns viewer is on my list, but there are still a lot of other things to
do first.
